Woke up this morning to the colours of cold

We produced The Colours of Cold last year, a song about how beautiful it is in Winter when it snows. But this morning, I found myself living in the painting that the lyrics describe. The sunrise brilliantly illustrated that these are the colours of cold; not just white, or gray; many hues and subtle shades. I just ran and got my camera and took as many pictures and clips as I could. This is home. I’m so lucky to live in this beautiful place, British Columbia. I thought I’d share the breathtaking scenes with you.

“THE COLOURS OF COLD”
― Lyrics Sean Berchik & Martha Bijman

Oh the mornings are palest
shades of green
Talcum-white snow on
the window screen
Cloud breaks show glimpses
of duck-egg-blue sky
which fades to nacre
like a drawn-out sigh –
like a drawn-out sigh

The muted glow
meets the bone-black night
and so disappears
all that marbled light
And only the moon
rimmed in palest gold
adds one more hue to
the colours of cold

Never say
I do not love you.
You’re more subtle
than snow to me.
We exist in a place
‘neath the rubble
where the snow still
waits for me

In the shadow of evening
with its shades of grey
Alpine glow edges
On peaks far away
And the sky above –
a protective curl –
lost in the landscape
of mother-of-pearl

The muted glow
meets the bone-black night
and so disappears
all that marbled light
And only the moon
rimmed in palest gold
adds one more hue to
the colours of cold -
to all the colours of cold

Never say
I do not love you
You’re more subtle
than snow to me
We exist in a place
‘neath the rubble
where the snow still
waits for me

Never say
I do not love you
You’re more subtle
than snow to me
We exist
beneath the rubble
where the snow still
waits for me
