Global purchases of imported oranges were worth a total US$5.74 billion in 2023.
The overall value of oranges imported in 2023 increased by an average 6.9% for all importing countries from five years earlier in 2019 when international purchases of oranges were valued at $5.37 billion.
Year over year, purchases of globally imported oranges rose 4% compared to $5.52 billion starting from 2022.
In 2023, the largest importers of oranges were Germany, France, Netherlands, United States of America and mainland China. Collectively, that cohort of suppliers accounted for about one-third (33.4%) of worldwide purchases of imported oranges during 2023.
From a continental perspective, buyers located in European countries spent the most on imported oranges during 2023 with purchases costing $3.4 billion or 59.2% of the global total. In second place were importers in Asia at 29% trailed by those in North America at another 8.7%.
Smaller percentages were delivered to Latin America (1.5%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, Africa (0.9%), then Oceania (0.6%) led by Australia and New Zealand.
