The overall value of exported apples declined via an average -7.6% drop for all exporting countries since 2019 when worldwide shipments of apples were valued at $7.4 billion.
Year over year, spending on globally flatlined via a -0.8% slowdown compared to $6.86 billion for 2022.
The 5 biggest exporters of fresh apples in 2023 were Italy, mainland China, United States of America, New Zealand and South Africa. Collectively, that power cohort of international suppliers approached three-fifths (57.6%) of apples exported worldwide during 2023.
Switching our focus to continents, suppliers in European countries sold the highest dollar worth of exported fresh apples during 2023 with shipments valued at $2.6 billion or 38.6% of the worldwide total. In second place were exporters in Asia at 23.7% while another 14.4% of international apple sales originated from North America.
Providers in Latin America excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean generated 8.2% worth, trailed by Oceania at 7.9% mostly New Zealand, then apple sources in Africa at 7.2%.
