Reflecting the powerful trend of an aging population, global purchases of imported hearing aids totaled US$6.24 billion in 2022.
The overall cost of imported hearing aids increased by an average 26.2% since 2018 when imported hearing aids purchased were valued at $4.95 billion.
Year over year, global spending on imported hearing aids flatlined via a 1% upturn compared to $6.18 billion during 2021.
The 5 biggest spenders on imported hearing aids in 2022 were the United States of America, Germany, France, Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Collectively, that quintet of leading importers were responsible for almost three-fifths (57.5%) of total spending on all hearing aids imported during 2022.
From a continental perspective, buyers in Europe spent the most on imported hearing aids during 2022 with purchases costing $2.65 billion or 42.4% of the world’s total. In second place were North American importers at 36.3% while another 13.9% of the world’s imported hearing aids was delivered to Asia.
Smaller percentages went to customers in Latin America (3.2%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, Oceania (3%) led by Australia and New Zealand, then Africa (1.1%).
