Global sales from diamonds exported from all countries were worth a total US$98.9 billion in 2023.
Overall, the value of globally exported diamonds fell by an average -13.3% for all exporting countries since five years earlier 2019 when global shipments of diamonds were valued at $114 billion.
Year over year, the value of exported diamonds shrank by -24.8% compared to $131.5 billion starting from 2022.
The 5 major exporters of diamonds were India, United States of America, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates and Belgium. Combined, that quintet of leading exporters generated well over two-thirds (70.4%) of international diamond sales in 2023.
Among continents, suppliers in Asia sold $54.9 billion or 55.4% worth of the world’s exported diamonds in 2023. Exporters located in North America generated 18.8% worth trailed by Europe at another 14.6%.
Smaller percentages of global diamond exports belong to providers in Africa (10.8%), mostly Australia in Oceania (0.2%), and Latin America (also 0.1%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean.
For research purposes, the 4-digit Harmonized Tariff System code prefix is 7102 for unmounted and unset diamonds.
